2023 NFL Draft results LEAKED... apparently 🤭
That, or someone at NFL.com has some explaining to do.
Hey bestie! Happy Wednesday 👋
Did you hear the news? A mind-blowing revelation had been shared on Twitter! We finally have the proof we all have been waiting for… THE NFL IS RIGGED, AND THE SCRIPT HAS BEEN LEAKED. 😱
… Either that, or techies at the NFL have some s’plainin’ to do. One of those two, for sure, though.
NFL Draft analyst (and excellent Twitter follow) Kent Weyrauch was doing some good ol’ fashioned research Tuesday, when he happened upon a shocking discovery on the NFL’s website.
You see, when scoping around the NFL’s website draft content, you’re bound to stumble across player profiles (like this one!). Before the NFL Draft, you’ll find player grades, measurables from the combine and player traits in these profiles. Post-draft, you’ll find all of that… PLUS their draft results.
Except that, as Kent discovered, the players in this year’s draft (scheduled to start Thursday, April 27) already had their draft results listed. 🤯
With the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft… the Carolina Panthers select…
Alabama QB Bryce Young! See? The pick is listed under 2023 Draft Results… meaning it’s totally, 100% official. No takebacks, Panthers!
Young isn’t the only prospect with results, either. According to the “very official NFL Draft results” on these player profiles, here’s how the rest of the top five shakes out, according to the mysterious NFL draft results.
No. 2 — C.J. Stroud (QB, Ohio State) ➡️ Houston Texans
No. 3 — Will Anderson (EDGE, Alabama) ➡️ Arizona Cardinals
No. 4 — Will Levis (QB, Kentucky) ➡️ Baltimore Ravens (WHOA 💥 )
No. 5 — Jalen Carter (DT, Georgia) ➡️ Seattle Seahawks
These “draft results” have since been removed from the player profiles… but still — WTH?!
So, where did these totally real, very official draft results come from?
My initial speculation was that someone might have accidentally published NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah’s most recent mock draft as actual NFL Draft results…
That almost appeared to be the case, too — until you get to pick No. 4, where Jeremiah had the Indianapolis Colts drafting QB Anthony Richardson, with no mention of the Ravens in sight.
It doesn’t feel entirely random to see the Ravens trading up for a quarterback at this point either, given their current situation with Lamar Jackson, so… we can probably eliminate random error, right? Where on earth did these results come from?
I’m not sure… but if the Ravens ACTUALLY trade up to draft Will Levis, we’ll know for sure — the NFL is scripted and they were a little quick to hit publish.
Who’s actualllllly projected to go No. 1 overall?
There’s been a lot of odds movement for the No. 1 overall pick as of late.
When the Panthers originally traded up from No. 9 to the first overall pick, Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud was considered the heavy favorite to be selected by the Panthers.
This week, things changed!
Now, Alabama QB Bryce Young has just taken the lead as the favorite to be drafted No. 1 overall at -270 — meaning it would take a $270 wager on Young to be drafted No. 1 in order to yield just $100 in profit. It feels almost like the sportsbooks are now saying he’s a lock! 🔒️
Betting Academy tip of the day 🎓️ Don’t forget, odds with a minus sign (-) indicate more likely outcomes, while plus odds (+) indicate less likely outcomes!
It’s been an interesting month for these No. 1 overall pick odds, to say the least! You might remember, prior to this year’s NFL Scouting Combine, Young had been listed as the favorite to be drafted overall… until the Panthers traded up for the pick, and suddenly the sportsbooks were all-in on Stroud. Now, we’re back to Young.
