Lesson Learned: Don’t Bet Against The Blue Jays

You might regret it...

Hey bestie! Here’s your (probably) much-needed reminder that self-care is important. Here’s a second reminder — entertainment is a form of self care. So, kick back and get ready to be entertained as I tell you about one of the best sagas #SportsTwitter had to offer this week.

Meet TSN media personality, Jordan Cicchelli. Jordan went semi-viral this week she made a bet on the Toronto Blue Jays.

OK, fine. It’s not a real bet, with real money (though I have to imagine those poutine hot dogs cost a pretty penny — ballpark prices, pssht. #AmIRite?). Still — this tweet serves as the bet slip we all needed to hold her accountable, as things went horribly, horribly wrong.

… for her — not the Blue Jays …

That night, the Jays hit 5 HRs in their home opener. 😮‍💨

That’s the most home runs they’ve ever hit in a home opener. Do you think they knew Jordan made the bet and were trying to drive sales? Cause by our math, that’s five poutine hot dogs… which, also by our math, is way too many poutine hot dogs. 🤣

Her Twitter timeline throughout the experience was something to behold, documenting the experience step by step.

Things started fine… but escalated quickly as they continued to hit!

The look of terror as they continued to hit well… 🤣

The total disbelief when she realizes she has to eat another hot dog 😆

Jordan didn’t eat all five hot dogs, so she made up for it with a donation to the Jays Care Foundation, which aims to help provide children throughout Canada the opportunity for meaningful play. 🥰 😇

Jordan is moving on, but it’s safe to say she’ll be haunted by poutine hotdogs for the rest of her life.

T’s & P’s, Jordan! Recover soon 🙂

We didn’t need to look very hard for the lesson we learned here. Today, The Betting Academy is here to remind you, friend — never place a bet you can’t afford to make — whether you’re wagering that hard-earned $$$… or a poutine vegan hot dog. 🤭

Was the Blue Jays Tuesday night success a fluke?

Probably not! 🤩

Two of the top-five batting average leaders in the MLB are coming at ya from the Blue Jays roster, thanks to third baseman Matt Chapman (.489 — 2nd best in MLB) and first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (.412 — tied for third best in MLB).

As a team, they’ve got the second-highest batting average in the league (only behind the Tampa Bay Rays), lead the MLB in hits so far (133), with their pitching staff ranking top five in quality starts and saves. Leggo, Blue Jays!

They also sit with the fourth-highest odds to win the AL at +650 — where a $100 bet would win $650 in profit if they somehow, miraculously, manage to beat out the odds-favorite (and defending World Series champs) Houston Astros.

Until next time, bestie! XOXO
